Conversations with Lizzie Turner

Welcome to our Monthly Conversations!
.
We've started this segment to get to know some of the amazing people supporting our journey. We want to learn, discover and question all the good things that women are doing in business, and to share that with our Necesse crowd. Our hope is that we can share some brilliant stories and connect others through these rapid 10 questions.

Lizzie Found of Arc & Bow
  • .
  • Tell us a bit about Arc & Bow?
  • Arc & Bow is an ethical womenswear brand that uses only organic fabrics, with an emphasis on bold prints and simple styles. Arc & Bow comes under the Mane Project umbrella.
    .
  • What is your mission?
  • Our mission is lots of things! First and foremost, it’s to manufacture timeless pieces that in the process of manufacturing don’t discriminate against people and also have the least impact on the environment. Transparency is important to us, so we want to grow an international community that connects the purchaser with the maker so that customers can value their pieces in their wardrobe. We want to make fashion/clothing meaningful again!
    .
  • What other brands fall under the Mane Project umbrella?
  • Bare Bones is our other in-house brand that follows the same principles as Arc & Bow, we also have other brands that are friends of Mane Project who’s values align with ours. We like to provide another platform for like-minded brands through Mane Project!
    .
  • Just like Necesse tampons, your clothing items are made from organic cotton  - why is using organic important to you?
  • The impacts non-organic cotton has on our environment is devastating, particularly to the communities and owners of the cotton fields. To be able to wear clothing without the harmful pesticides on it, and also knowing the owner of those cotton fields got paid fairly and wasn’t harmed looking after their fields, is so important to us.
    .
  • Where are your clothing items designed and manufactured?
  • Everything is designed here in Mount Maunganui, we then pass on the manufacturing information to our factories in India and they sample for us, then we place our bulk order all with lots of communication and problem solving in between!

  • Where can people find your products?
  • Mane Project is the Home online platform for Arc & Bow, but you can find us also online at Well Made Clothes, Ethi Collective and other NZ retailers.
    .
  • What has been your greatest achievement for Arc & Bow so far?
  • Moving our manufacturing to organic and fair trade manufacturers, that has got to be our greatest achievement so far! We have lots of other things to look forward to too...
    .
  • What are your hopes for the future of Mane Project and Arc & Bow?
  • For Mane Project, we want to grow our selection of products all being organic and fair trade, and for Arc & Bow to continue to make meaningful products that are bold and beautiful.
    .
  • Why did you decide to collaborate with Necesse?
  • Necesse really stood out to us for lots of reasons, one being the social enterprise aspect where donations were made to those that needed it, and also the value for organic cotton and making that so accessible to people in need. To receive tampons when in need is one thing, but to receive organic tampons is even better. And then the convenience of a monthly subscription is so smart and makes sense! We applaud Necesse!
    .
  • What does the collaboration mean for Arc & Bow customers?
  • For us it means that a purchase with us is even more meaningful because by purchasing our product customers are supporting us make a donation which we think is really amazing. It also educates customers of the great initiatives that are out there that we want to partner with and support.
